Sometimes you stare off into "space." I stare at the wall. It's concrete. It's sound. But am I not deceived? Could this not be some trick? Frankly, I feel like my mind is doing a reboot when I stare at something. Maybe you are staring at that girl across the room. Your mind is filling your head with all these delusions about her. But, what is your mind really doing?
As you are sitting there, reading this, you look up from your reading, and you see her glance toward your section of the pub. The mind triggers you to go on a wim. Maybe you impulsively ask her out. Maybe it doesn't work.
The point is, when you stare at something, your mind is taking all that stored information and backing it up in some folder in the back filing cabinet somewhere. When you come back to the real world, your mind is telling you that it is okay now, and you are free to learn more.
So what is the moral? It is healthy for you to stare. Your mind needs it.
